Westminster Shorter Catechism #22

Question #22:

How did Christ, being the Son of God, become man?

Answer:

Christ, the Son of God, became man, by taking to himself a true body, and a reasonable soul, being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the Virgin Mary, and born of her, yet without sin.

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity …” Hebrews 2:14

“Then he said to them, ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” Matthew 26:38

“The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'” Luke 1:35

“Such a high priest meets our need — one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.” Hebrews 7:26
