God has blessed us incredibly in oh so many ways. An obvious blessing is our flat in Kyiv…we bought it when there were five of us living here. Now that Jim and I are empty-nesters, we have some extra space for visitors.
Jamie’s former bedroom is now Jim’s office. And a guest room if need be.
Anna and Jeanne’s room is our entrance to the Balcony Cafe as well as the guest room of choice.
Last Thursday we welcomed the Fishers when they arrived to begin the process of adopting sweet Vanya. We loved getting to know them and hearing their side of this miracle adoption. God is so good. Pray for the Fishers as their family is knit together.
They moved into their own space on Saturday morning, and we welcomed the Underwoods on Saturday afternoon. Ande and Paula have five children — two adopted from Ukraine — and have started a ministry to help provide education (among other things) for the orphan grads still here. Check out their facebook page for more information. And pray for them!
The Underwoods moved to another location this afternoon. And we welcomed James, a medical student from Nigeria. There are roughly 10,000 foreign medical students in Ukraine and Jim is privileged to act as adviser to their Leadership Council. What an opportunity! Six years with the students here…and then sending them back to their home countries. What a mission field! James is in Kyiv to take a test on Thursday that will hopefully open up some opportunities for him to study further in the States. Please pray for him to fully understand the questions and clearly respond.
(You can read more about what Jim and I are doing each day on our facebook page: Ukraine Medical Outreach, Inc. Please pray for us as we prepare to host a team from Switzerland next week…two camps including one at the National Children’s Hospital HIV/AIDS ward and a dinner honoring health-care workers who care for these children. One hundred have been invited to dinner!!)
To God be the glory.
