Ezer

Tonight was part 1 of a multi-part women’s conference that is looking at the role of women in the church from a biblical perspective.

After looking at Genesis 2:18 and reading that the Lord God was going to make a helper suitable for Adam, the speaker wisely gave a brief lesson on the word ‘ezer’ as used in scripture to mean helper.

Each table of women looked at several verses and discovered that God called Himself our helper. She pointed out that if we devalue our worth as helpers, we are devaluing God’s ministry in our lives.

It was interesting to listen to women of varying ages discuss what they see as their role in the life of the church.

And, I must admit, it was fun to listen to our pastor translate for the speaker. Always good to know that the men know what we’re learning!

Tomorrow picks up where we left off tonight.
