May Day

International Workers’ Day.

I somewhat remember Maypoles with long ribbon streamers, but I didn’t put much significance to the day other than the beginning of Spring.

Apparently it’s also International Workers’ Day. And today protests were staged in many countries of the world demanding fair pay for all. Better working conditions.

Interesting to read this article about demonstrations in Moscow — both pro and anti labor situations. It mentions that some protesters were paid to show up at the STRONG recommendation of bosses. It also mentions 5000 or so members of the Communist party joined together in Kyiv this day. I missed it, though I was in the center for a large part of the afternoon.

Beautiful day for strolling around town.
