Zdvizhivka Camp — Thursday

Whew! Today was our first really warm day. Upper 80s or even low 90s. No cloud cover at all. Thankfully there was plenty of water available to all of us throughout the entire camp. And it was amazingly cool inside some of the rooms… that is until hordes of children filled them up!

Water games! One was a relay race. Have you ever tried to get 20 pre-schoolers lined up in three equal rows of children. Forget it! Their job was to use a plastic cup to get water from a bucket, scurry across the parking lot and empty the water into a jug, and then hurry the cup back to the next person in line.

Seemed easy enough. But, as I said before, it was hot! Some were willing to run for the sake of the team, others simply were content to walk. And one just guarded the jug!

Then we played Splish, splish, splash. The same as duck, duck, goose except that water is involved. A super day for two water games! Instead of touching heads and saying Duck, IT had a small cup of water and sprinkled a small amount on each head while saying Splish. When the time came to choose the chaser, that’s when the fun began. Because it was THEN that IT could dump the rest of the glass of water over a little cherub. People were clamoring to be chosen simply because the water felt so refreshing.

Music was a highlight today. Not only did we practice our song for the show tomorrow, but we allowed the children to sing a song of choice. One precious one asked to sing “Eta den,” or as we know it: “This is the day.”
This is the day!

During our Bible lesson, the children received the crowns they had decorated on Monday. Oh, my goodness, are these some sweet princes and princesses?

And during our crafts class the children painted picture frames…tomorrow their pictures will be inserted. We THINK that everyone so far has had a portrait picture taken this week.

The children also received the T-shirts that took them two days to decorate. They’re supposed to wear them tomorrow….we’ll see!

We’re looking forward to the final day. Parents and caregivers are attending a special show that will feature the gospel, each group singing a song, and a slide show featuring faces of the week.

Pray with us that hearts will be open!
