World Cup Mountain Bike Championships

Oh, my goodness. I’ll post some pictures later, but we are all in Schladming, Austria for this ICMDA conference.

And we’ve been watching a transformation of the area over the last several days in anticipation of the final World Cup Mountain Bike championships taking place here this weekend. We’ve seen parts of the downhill course, and I cannot even imagine someone can RACE down this mountainside. The orange pads strapped to trees gives me an idea of just how dangerous this route is.

We told some folks at breakfast that it might be comforting for them to know that there are physicians from around the world meeting here right now — including orthopedic surgeons!

I presume that this will be televised on some of the round-the-clock sports channels. So if you want to see the real beauty of where we currently are…tune in!

  1. Hmmm, maybe we’ll be able to catch some!! We are at the Quatermans for the weekend and they are both in Kyiv at the moment for Seminary Graduation (although Darlene gets back early tomorrow) Call us when you get back to Ukraine!! I’m getting ready to call Aunt Janet and Uncle David on the vonage phone 🙂 It will be nice to hear their voices and a nice surprise!!! You may be in Austria… but I bet you’d still love a chat with your sister 🙂

  2. Watched some of this racing in the Olympics. GIRLS racing! And my presupposition was that only Americans would race and win ‘cuz who has ever heard of this crazy sport elsewhere in the world??!! Of course the French girl beat out the girl from Great Britain-but only b/c she had a last minute CRASH!

  3. I’ve always wanted to go to Austria.
