13 Days — Christmas card

Oh, my goodness!  We received our first Christmas card today — from a dear family from Alabama.  This could easily become my all-time favorite card:

(You really have to click on the card to see the total despair in the faces of the children!)

Coalition meeting

This morning was the regular meeting of the Coalition for Children at Risk — the Ukraine edition — at our flat.  It is always such an encouragement to hear what others are doing to help the children in Ukraine — whether it be by becoming foster care parents, feeding street children, running a rehab center to offer street kids an alternative to the street.

The steering committee met a few weeks ago to focus our meetings (you can imagine how sidetracked we can get with so many ministries represented!) and we challenged participants to think about what the coalition can do to help their individual ministry as they reach out to help children.  An obvious answer was to create a directory, complete with contact names and emails, so that we can all be aware of the resources available to us.

Our prayer is that personal ministries will not be afraid to join with the bigger picture…to realize that no one ministry can handle the huge numbers of children.  And that ALL of these ministries are for God’s glory, not our own.

As it says in Romans: “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

May we speak to the issues surrounding these children with one heart and mouth.
